Daily 1% Joy Practice

Psych Pocket Series 🧠 · Vol. 2

How often do you tell yourself, ā€œI’ll enjoy this laterā€?

Later, when things are done.

Later, when life feels easier.

But later… keeps moving...

What if you could allow yourself a little bit of joy right now?

Let’s try a small experiment!

The 1% Joy Practice Loop

Step 1 — Notice

Pay attention to the moment when you postpone happiness.

ā€œI’ll feel better whenā€¦ā€

ā€œOnce this is done, then I can relax.ā€

Step 2 — Identify the hidden condition

Ask yourself: What condition am I waiting for before I allow myself to feel good?

Success? Stability? Approval? Certainty?

Step 3 — Allow 1% joy anyway

Without fixing anything. Without solving the problem.

Just allow 1% of joy in this moment.

A breath. A pause. A small smile.

Step 4 — Notice what shows up

Do you feel guilt? Or pressure? A voice saying you should be doing more?

Just observe it.

Step 5 — Stay with it

You don’t have to remove the discomfort.

Just stay with the moment where joy and discomfort can exist together.

Step 6 — Reflection

Repeat this practice for a few days.

Then ask yourself: What changed when you stopped postponing happiness?

You know what? You’re actually allowed to be happy right now and anytime!

Try Steps 1–6! Give yourself just a little 1% joy each day.

So… ready to take this tiny challenge?
